High altitude vineyards
In our Protected Geographical Indication, we cultivate varieties such as the red grapes Tempranillo, Syrah, and Merlot, and the white grapes Macabeo and Jaén Blanco (native to the area). Sheltered by high peaks, such as the Sierra de Gádor, Sierra de Almirez, and Sierra Nevada mountain ranges, the climate is determined by snowfall and strong winds in winter and adequate sun exposure for the grapes, with mists and mild nighttime temperatures in summer. Cultivation practices are very gentle on the vines, using organic fertilizers and minimal preventative treatments (only sulfur), without resorting to pesticides or herbicides. However, they are also demanding, requiring several tillage operations, green pruning, and manual harvesting of the grapes.
The small parcels are concentrated within a 5 km radius. In the Andarax Valley, the soils are ideal, being mainly clay and silt, which allow us to have water reserves in an area of low yields. This allows us to achieve excellent grape ripening parameters, with a high content of polyphenols.
Vineyards
Among our nearly 40 hectares of vineyards, we find fully adapted varieties such as Tamranillo, Syrah, Merlot and Macabeo, in red wines. In whites Macebeo, Viognier or Jaén Blanco (native to the area).

Jancos
954 m altitude
From Barranco del Conejo to Cortijo la Quinta.
On the southern slope bordering the Sierra de Gádor and facing north, we find more clayey or light-colored soils, with greater water retention. Ideal for red grape varieties.

El Llano
935-950 m altitude
Includes the hills of Moralillo and La Caleta.
On the north face, bordering the Sierra del Almirez and facing south, we find soils mixed with clay and silt, which drain more water. Ideal for white grape varieties or red grapes for rosé.

Mayones
1189 m altitude
On the border of Alcolea and Láujar, behind Santo Domingo hill.
On the southern slope, in the heart of the Sierra de Gádor and facing south, we find clay soils with a higher mineral content. Only Tempranillo and Syrah grapes are cultivated.
